Lenny Bruce is not afraid
August 28, 2005 – 4:37 PMNot to make light of the situation, but as I'm sure everybody in North America is aware, Hurricane Katrina is about to open a can of whoopass on N'Orleans.
Work is going to suck Monday and Tuesday. I don't like to go into a lot of detail about where I work or what I do, but let's just say a lot of customers with their priorities mixed up will be calling us demanding we do something and do it INSTANTLY, while in the meantime there's no power, no phone service, the house will be partially submerged, and it'll take months to rectify all three situations.
That out of the way, I really do hope everybody in the affected area is hauling ass upland away from the shore. When you're six feet below sea level and you have sustained winds of 175mph and the waves that accompany that heading toward you, you really have no business stubbornly holing up behind a boarded window. What makes me sad is that I know there are stubborn, headstrong people all over the US, and New Orleans is no exception, that will stay behind, and will drown, or be struck by something.
People, don't be jackasses. It's probably too late at this point, but get yourselves and your family out of the path of danger. If you're too much of an idiot to do so, at least let somebody else take your family away from danger. I love New Orleans too. But it's going to be devastating and there's not a lot anybody can do to prevent that. Just get the hell out and be safe.
OK. Ready for a total non-sequitur? I want a baby penguin. When they lift their widdle wings, it just makes me die inside. Yes, I am a retard.
